Me On A Monday - August 1st

William Shakespeare says "Summer's lease hath all too short a date."  and that's how I am feeling on this holiday Monday, summer is moving all too quickly.  So on this Civic Holiday Monday, I've gleaned the internet for some ideas for the 31 days August of dwindling  summer.

From Pinterest, here's a chart of ideas for 31 days of decluttering in August:

And from Susan Conway, here's a list of 31 things to take photos of.

    1. This particular site has a list for each month. There are some good ideas to follow. I wonder what the final affect would be if I followed each list for a year.

  2. That's an interesting decluttering list ... do people still have telephone directories?

    1. We still get one delivered for free for the city next to us, not sure why they send because it hangs around the house for maybe a month before we commit to recycling.

  3. That's a nice quote from Mr Shakespeare! I tend to agree and always mourn summer when it fades. Not that I had given a thought to that till now. In addition to your post, I got an email today counting down to the availability of pumpkin spiced lattes. I am determined not to dwell on any such countdown but to savour every day as it comes - autumn and winter, and all they bring will be here soon enough. And with that in mind I shall visit some of your links and hope to get inspired...

    1. Was that Deb's count down to pumpkin spiced lattes? That is almost as bad as my count down to Christmas (lol). I thought the produce recipes might be a good for you. And by the way, I believe you do pop!!

    2. Yes, Deb was the culprit - quite unsettling right on the back of the Christmas thing. I can't get the fact out of my head - maybe we need some sort of warning system where I know not to check in to certain posts and avoid the stress... Yes I looked through some of the recipes and there are some nice ones that I might be able to try. (Today I'm trying yoghurt!!) Kind of you to say I pop and maybe in some ways you are right ... but then again, I don't post everything on my blog! :o)

  4. Although it's still hot, it does feel as if summer is on the way out. The sun is going behind the trees earlier each night which makes me sad!

    1. It is so humid again & all the rain keeps going around us, our grass is burnt into shape little needles, you wouldn't dare walk bare foot in the grass. I've also noticed the sun setting times :(

  5. Thank you for the links to the decluttering ideas, etc. The biggest thing I need to declutter is my reluctance to declutter! :D

    1. LOL - I hear you on this Bless. De-cluttering, for me, is fraught with emotions, so I do when I know (1) I am in the mood (2) I have the time (3) a source to donate to (4) that I have a plan to get the stuff out of the house right away. Now having said that, I just might be prepared to use this August schedule to try a new style :)

  6. One already notices sunset coming earlier.

    1. One of the barns behind us is our sun set marker, which reminds me I should use this as a photo opportunity.

  7. Those are all great lists. I'll have to tackle them after the fact, since August is almost totally booked. No complaints, but it will be the end of summer before I have much time to contemplate any lists!

    1. I always think of September as the new year in many ways, & probably a better time to tackle any new ideas or methods. It seems your August will involve checking off some items on your bucket LIST :)

  8. That is an interesting list and I would have to say over the last two years I have tackled quite a few of those things. However, I am still holding onto a single belt in hopes of fitting back into it; and my wedding dress in the highly unlikely event my daughter might choose to wear it some day.

    1. I thought the site that "owns" the monthly declutter lists, was interesting, it might add a little interest in the decluttering project about my home. Especially around clothes. I just listened to an interesting vlog by a group of professionals about decluttering clothes & the psychology around that element. I would never part with my wedding dress.
