Me On A Monday - October 22nd

Reading:  The Winters by Lisa Gabriele.  It was a quick read, no surprises.

Finished: the re-shingled, repaired roof is finally done.  The bin has  left !  All the banging comes to any end, well until next week for a few hours when they come back with an electrician to repair the wire they cut through.  Truly not their fault, the original builder of the house took a lazy way of wiring the kitchen dinette area's outlets - rather than, as code demands, going through the 2x4's, they went over the 2X4 which put the wire  right against the roof sheathing!!!

In The Mail:  the federal government sent these to everyone in Canada.

There is all kinds of jokes going about regarding the change to our federal laws about the use of marijuana cannabis.  There's even one that has Santa Claus saying cookies from Canada this year could be "jollier" than normal. Also the government feels that calling it cannabis is less stigmatizing than the use of the word marijuana.    I find it most interesting that our current prime minister, Justin Trudeau's mother's interview from a few years back is getting a lot of current air time.  Margaret Trudeau was married to a former Prime Minister, Pierre Elliott Trudeau (Justin's father) & she has had lots of scandal attached to her name.  She is also a woman that sadly suffers from mental illness & has been hospitalized several times for it.  In the 2007 interview she stated that many, if not all of her most serve psychotic episodes occurred after heavy use of marijuana.   I'll say no more.

Listening To:  Vivaldi's Four Seasons on repeat - I don't know, I just had a need to listen to all four seasons.

On This Day:  Ontarian voters go to the polls if they haven't already participated through the early polling stations or mail in.  Most areas are voting for Mayors & Councillors.  Some areas also vote for school board trustees.  Our region had all the school board trustees acclaimed as no one ran against them.  I think our current Mayor will win.

Now all eyes turn south to watch our neighbours vote in their mid-terms on November 6th.  Good Luck.  I'll say no more.

Watching:  we went to the movies & saw a Star is Born with Lady Gaga.  I have not been a Bradley Cooper fan but he is amazing in this movie as is Lady Gaga.  Bradley has an excellent singing voice!
If you haven't seen but plan to ... bring tissues.  I will download the soundtrack.

Distracted By:  all the FaceBook December Daily groups - so much inspiration ... no not yet, I'm still working on my 31 Days of Thankful.

I did not purchase the December Daily kit shown below.  Who is also doing December Daily this year or perhaps Shimelle's Journal Your Christmas?

And while we are speaking DD, I was rather disappointed that one member on the (fabulous) Ali Edward's group posted about getting her package delivered & she used the "Me Too"  as a start to her post & added the hashtag #metoo.   I don't think I'm a "snowflake" but I really thought it was an inappropriate use of the term & hashtag.  I saw later that she did remove the hashtag from her post but still kept the Me Too lead it.

  2. Interesting post, Mary-Lou. Yes, we'll need all the good wishes we can get for the upcoming election. A friend and I contributed 100 postcards to a campaign near Utica. A group here will mail out over 6,000 postcards--all hand-written--in an effort to get people in that district to the polls. I have no intention of doing another Christmas Journal which surprises me somewhat since my collection of them is one of my favorites. But the last two years I've realized that not enough happens that's worthy of a scrapbook page each day during December. My goal now is to get caught up with Project Life as I am, once again, seriously behind! Have a great week!

  6. We got 2 mailings of the Cannabis Act, lol
Yes last day of voting here and we have a new mayor (thankfully)
I do a DD every couple or few years as we mostly have the same traditions.
I never order a kit, I just use my own album and papers.

    1. Two mailings, both the same? Now we are getting the commercials. I cannot believe that they believe organized crime will give up such a money maker or that they can keep it out of the hands of kids/youth. I continue with a calmer version of DD - those F/B groups are intense! (col).

  7. We're in the middle of our early voting period for our November mid-terms, and I am horrified that Marsha Blackburn may become our new U.S. Senator :( What is the world coming to?!

I haven't listened to Vivaldi in many years, but I remember having a CD of it. I'm done with remakes. I'm not going to watch another one until I've seen the movies where somebody made up their own plot lol

I've never tried any kind of daily challenge, although I'd join other weekly or monthly groups like T Tuesday if I came across them....

    1. There is so much to be scared of in your mid-terms. I cannot believe your President is making stuff up & people believe it. I think this is why turn out for voting is dropping, no one trusts or believes politicians or that things can change

    2. Fact-checking doesn't work any more. It's a madhouse :( Voter registration is up here in my little blue corner of a red state, but it won't be enough to counteract the state-wide issue.
