In The Mail: we received our package for voting by mail. On October 22nd we go to the polls to elect regional council; mayors & ward representatives. I must admit that this is the first time I have really thought about not voting - I do not like any of the choices. No worries though, freedom to vote was a hard won battle so I would never toss away that privilege. It's one of the reasons I do not like voting by mail - it removes us from the act of voting, the personal connection to exercising a right & a privilege.
Reading: two books on the go right now (1) The Dinner List - so far I'm liking, I like the idea of a dinner party of a variety of persons which could include both living or dead (2) The Art of Keeping Secrets - very predictable story & ending, I could never buy into any of the characters so I did not become invested in their lives.
Planning: now I'm thinking about who would be at my dinner party. The book, The Dinner List, gave her only 5 guests but for my list I'm giving myself 11 others. Who would be on your dinner party list?
Celebrating: well celebrating is maybe going to the extreme, but certainly demonstrating a willingness to accept the season change; I've switched over the closet from summer lights to the other chiller, colder, snowier season wears. I am celebrating flannel bed sheets, warm fireplace evenings, hot apple cider, cozy sweaters; no wool; allergic; hot casserole dinners & glorious colours of the trees.
"October is about trees revealing colours they've hidden all year. People have an October as well." Jim Storm
So let's all show our own October colours.
