Me On A Monday

Good Morning. Today all of Canada goes to the polls to elect a new Prime Minister.  Please send us lots of positive energy.

I did vote but I must say IMO, not one of the 5 candidates in my province, deserve my vote.  Yes that's right we have in the federal election, *6 parties to choose from;  The Conservative Party, The Liberals, The NDP, The Green Party & The PPC & only in Quebec The Bloc Quebecois*.

We are in the home stretch of the 2021 Summer Photo Scavenger Hunt (SPSH) - how is everyone doing with their final finds?  Link In day is Friday October 1st.  I've got a few more to sort out yet.  I had a couple ideas for the Breakfast of Champions but alas my one brilliant idea has not as yet panned out.  No matter, it's all in the name of fun isn't it  😉

Picked up from the library a new to me book written by Jeffrey Archer; Nothing Ventured.  I am really enjoying this book & it took only about 2 sentences before I was into this book. Glad there's another 2 in the series.

I also picked up from the library in book format, Louise Penny's latest book, The Madness of Crowds.  I mentioned a few weeks ago I got the book initially as an audio book which I did not enjoy.  Fingers crossed it was the medium that I did not enjoy, not the message (book).

I got some time at the craft table & this is my latest card creation.

I spent time in the garden on Friday morning, digging up an over abundance of coneflower, daylily & medium iris, all of which I donated to my friend that I house sit for.  I've bought one bag of yellow daffodils & 1 bag of snowdrops, which I haven't dug in as yet.  This year I'm sticking with traditional yellow daffodils, that way I shouldn't experience any left down or disappointment over advertised colour, as I did this spring with the "pink" daffodils, that weren't pink.

Hope everyone has a good week, for me I'm thinking that 2021 started out looking like a warm chocolate chip cookie & then one bite, BAM, oatmeal raisin ...

  1. I love that chocolate chip cookie comparison!
Isn't it annoying when you are not necessarily voting for who you want, but voting against those you don't?

    1. The way things are structured we don't necessarily vote for the leader, just the person in our region representing the party. We vote for the person in our region, since we would have more to do with this person than the one sitting in Ottawa. I really was hoping/thinking 2021 was going to be a little less worrisome than it is proving to be.

  2. LOL--I'm a fan of oatmeal raisin, but I definitely agree with your point! Love the bold striped background and the brightly colored flowers on your card--a great combination! Have a good week!

    1. I am trying bolder colours & combos of paper. Making a striped background was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be - all that math & measuring (lol). I like Oatmeal with chocolate chips or raisins - both a good tea dunkers :)

  3. Sue has audio-read that book. I am resisting for now, but I will do it at some point.

    1. Did Sue like the book? Did she think the best of Louise or that Louise's best isn't this book? I am certainly not devouring the book as I have some of her previous works.

  4. Haha, laughing at the cookie comment!
Ah, general elections ... the bane of democracy! I'm often tented to write "none of the above muppets!"

    1. Muppets is a good description; being a democracy we have to vote, but to vote for less than the best is really pushing the strengths of the rights & privileges. Nothing against oatmeal raisin, but when someone bakes & they look like oatmeal chocolate, I begin to have trust issues!

  5. I still have 9 more photos to find for the SPSH but I have an idea for each one so it's just a case of getting on with it!

I love your card. It's very striking with those bright colours. x

    1. Thanks Eileen, the person who received the card called it quite retro ... not sure how to take (col).

  6. I LOVE that card! It's really funky. (Does anyone say that any more? Anyway, it's the word that sprang to mind when I saw it!)
I will keep an eye open for the Canadian election results, and any associated commentary, with interest. I certainly know how you feel as I felt the same way about the last election here. I looked at one side and shuddered, then at the other side and shuddered. Then I looked at the third and thought even they didn't deserve to be rewarded for the others' shortcomings. It's so sad when you think, "Is this the best our country has to offer?"
I smiled at your biscuit imagery. I love oat/raisin biscuits but I take your point :o)

    1. Funky works (col) - thanks. For the next card I would place the greenery a little differently.

To call an election in the middle of a pandemic 4th wave just so he, sockboy, can get a majority & he said throughout the election campaign if he doesn't get a majority he'll call an election again in 18 months! He assumes he'll win again - arrogance. Sadly we have no limit on how many times a person can be elected. Results won't be complete for at least 4 days - mail in voting is strong this year.

  7. At least you get to vote! Over here that privilege seems to be in danger of being denied to some, if not many! Then there is the so called election fraud card being bandied around even before the polls have closed...

Lovely card! I really like it.

I need to get busy with my photos for the SPSH! My phone has lost the ability to send photos to my laptop! I can't email them to myself. I have to text them to my daughter who has to email them to me in order to upload to my laptop, which makes it a bit more work! I need a new phone but, going to the phone store to pick one is still a bit risky with our high Covid numbers and risk of exposure. So, I'm making do with the old phone.

    1. Bless I have to agree about being worried for the US of A's rights to vote & democracy. I cannot believe that Mr Trump is still going on & on about the election being stolen from him. Oh what a pain your phone is causing. I should upgrade my phone, but it is very low on my needs list right now.

  8. I did vote, not sure why, but hoping for a majority government of some sort. Your card creation is gorgeous, lucky recipient! I have gone off Louise Penny a bit with her recent books but will try her latest one. Thanks for the positive review of the Jeffrey Archer book - I will order it.

    1. I cannot believe the results of the election, oh Canada what have we done ...

I am not going to highly recommend the current book of Louise's - I'm probably in the minority but I am not impressed even in the written word. I was hopeful it was just going to be the audio I did not enjoy :(

  9. Stunning card!!I may agree with your sentiment about 2021 there at the last, but let's not be dissing oatmeal raisin cookies, especially if they are warm as well.

  10. That's a pretty card - the colours really pop against the black and white ... I've been listening to some podcasts about the election (result now known as I type) in Canada and found it very interesting. I'd like our voting papers to have a box which says "none of the above" to send a message to all politicians about their lack-lustre policies.

    1. Thanks about the card. I enjoy more when I don't try & force the stamping part. I am SO disappointed in our results - 600 million dollars this election cost us for the same results & he's already saying he'll be calling another election in 18 months. None of the above is a perfect option; we can decline to cast a ballot but not loose the privilege of voting; you present to the polling officer & say you want to "decline your vote" which is then recorded & presented to the winning incumbent, who is then suppose to contact you to acknowledge your choice. That's the theory any way.

  11. I'm impressed you have enough plants to share. Your green thumb is appreciated, I'm sure. You can't go wrong with the traditional daffodil. Such a bright happy welcome to spring :)

    1. My thoughts about the yellow daffodil - a cheery greeting after the winter. The plants shared are prolific this year.
