31 Days Of Thankful - 12-18

Source: Internet

For October I'll be posting Thankful Tuesday & sharing what I have been grateful for during the week.

October 12: A quiet day on all fronts, no struggles, no stresses, a really pleasurable rhythm to the day.

October 13: Technology gave "her" best today; no problems with Zoom's screen sharing & moving into break out groups. Lively chat within the break out groups.

October 14: Tree trimming happened earlier than expected, as they had a cancellation. As always Eric & his co-worker are very good about cleaning up any debris.  Since it was just trimming they did not require the big chipper shredder so a lot quieter.

October 15: Frig clean out done in time to get all into the green bin  for pick up.  Thankfully very little waste, meal planning really helps with this.

October 16: Getting our COVID vaccine passport downloaded was easier than anticipated. Being a government site you expect to go in circles. Pleasantly surprised & I tested the QR coding at the library - big green verified check mark!

October 17: Online church services; I can "attend" my own church at a later time,  which allows me to tune in live to our previous wonderful, much missed, minister's service at his new church.  He is such a gifted speaker.

October 18: Free yard waste pick up by the county; we contributed 4 bags. Thankful there's another pick up scheduled for November.

  1. Got our passports and daughter has them laminated already.

  2. Lots to comment on but I will just mention using up food. This is a struggle for me as I only cook for one. Cabbage and celery are my bugaboos as I have to virtually eat them every day in order to get to them while they are still fresh. Some things can be bought in small quantities (like brussell sprouts or mushrooms) and I can use them up quickly.

    1. I am most thankful that we have a few farmers markets that are still going strong which enables me to buy less of some veggies & fruits. Bananas from the supermarkets are my ban to not using (& no I don't like banana bread enough to want to make (col))

  3. Zoom and GoogleMeet have certainly transformed our ability to meet with others. I now regularly have "coffee" with a dear friend who moved to Albuquerque, our book groups will meet online during the winter months, I can hear my daughter preach in Wisconsin, and a study group that would have disbanded after Lent in 2020 is still going strong thanks to online access.

    1. 2 years ago I don't think I would have been attending online things like Zoom, but what a blessing this has turned in to. How wonderful that you can watch Sarah preach.

  4. I saw the day mentioning tree trimming and for a moment there, I had thought that you'd put your Christmas tree up!

    1. LOL - no Christmas up until well after November 11th. I'll share a secret though ... the horse tree in the family has been left up minus any ornaments or lights all year, tucked into the corner like a big potted plant!

  5. Zoom has definitely enhanced my life and I now 'meet' weekly with friends who live too far away to meet regularly in person. I didn't know it existed before the first lockdown so that's one good thing that's come from the current situation.

    1. Zoom is certainly now a positive part of our lives, probably for a long while to come.

  7. How lovely to have calm days when things work as they are supposed to! I enjoyed reading your list of thankfulness. I am trying to get my eucalyptus tree trimmed and the estimate given by the trimmer is double what he charged me, three years ago!

    1. So many things are doubling, tripling in costs over the pandemic & I wonder if these increases are truly necessary or just someone taking advantage. Having a qualified & trained tree trimmer might be in the long run, worth the dollars spent. I imagine trimming the eucalyptus tree would smell so nice :)

  8. "A quiet day on all fronts, no struggles, no stresses, a really pleasurable rhythm to the day." Really, who could ask for anything more. We recently had tree trimmers out to remove 2 dead trees, and clear several brush piles. They missed one and were supposed to come back out, but went out of business in the meantime. How is that for weird?

    1. That is so weird - thankfully you got the majority of the work done. In our region it seems to be roofers that come & go so quickly.

  9. Lots to be thankful for in your list! So glad there were no technology issues! I had to replace my laptop last month & it's taken me a while to get everything set up & software installed & get my passwords entered, so I'm just getting around to catch up today. :)
