Take Three Thursday - Ode To Jack O Lantern

In an effort to notice more of the ordinary in my life, I have decided to share what I have noticed this week in Take Three Thursday.   The idea is to take 1 - 3 photos that are linked some how; by theme, by colour, by date, by moment,  by points of view. There is no formal link in but please feel free to join in.   What have you noticed this week?

Have a peek at what others have noticed this week:
Maggie: Farmer's Wife Day By Day
Karen: Random Reflections

What I noticed this week are all the pumpkins still available, not yet carved into something simple or amazing.  While I am not a celebrator of Halloween, (no worries, I do give out candy on the 31st to all the trick or treators)  I do enjoy seeing all the beautiful pumpkins, so many shapes, beautiful displays showing off their uniqueness.  Pumpkins not only make great Jack O Lanterns, but also great floral vases, ice buckets, soup tureens, party dip bowls & countless other great ideas.  Then there's all the recipes that use pumpkin ... yummmm to pumpkin pie.

"Happy little pumpkins growing big & thick, wondering which ones will they choose to pick.  Happy little pumpkins wondering what they will be, pie, bread or cookies or Jack O lantern for me!"   from the internet

Oh yes problems with too many problem comments, a slight change.

  1. There really are a ton of pumpkins still out there. I wonder what they do with all the leftover ones that nobody buys? I've purchased three this year for decoration. I may use them, or I may slice them in half and feed them to the chickens. -Jenn

  2. Love the pumpkins. My post for Take Three is similar and will be "up" this afternoon.

  3. I would agree with you. I have never been a fan of Halloween and never let my children do trick or treating. I did let them go to a 'Pumpkin Party ' when they were small. I would of course give any children who called sweets. We unsurprisingly get very few.
I do however love to see pumpkins.

  4. We don't get trick-or-treaters in my neighborhood, but that doesn't stop me from buying the candy ;) We always buy a pumpkin intending to carve it but rarely do, so the pumpkin serves more as a seasonal decoration through Thanksgiving. Some of the ones in your photos look _huge_!

  5. Lovely pics, so N American! I don't like hallowe'en either. Hate the concept of trick or treat - but I'm sure we've talked about this before...

  6. Haven't seen too many on my street but they may sprout up in the next few days.

  7. Our shops are still full of them! I think the general word on the street here is that trick or treaters only go to houses which have a carved pumpkin or other decoration outside. Last year I bought lots of sweets and no one knocking at the door - which meant that I had to eat the sweets myself ;-)
