Me On A Monday - June 10th In TGIF Form

Good Morning.  Yes I'm slipping in the TGIF on a Monday again.

I'm thinking that I just might change things up for Summer with posting on a Friday rather than a Monday, giving Me On A Monday a summer vacation of sorts,  but not until after this week's Friday SPSH Link In.

The first of the 2019 SPSH link ins happens this Friday, June 14th.  I hope that everyone has being having some fun with the search.

Now back to our regularly scheduled meme ... TGIF = Trusting, Grateful, Inspired, Fun (Thank you Dr Brene Brown).

TRUSTING
Trusting that our anniversary celebrations will also be enjoyable for Mr Man.  He left the where, what, when of celebrating our anniversary together in what ever way I wanted.  I have arranged attendance at an event that speaks to my heart - with horses.

GRATEFUL
Grateful for the connections I've made in the 4 years of blogging.  I started in June 2015 without any idea of where blogging was going to take me, I had no clear plan.  I did not know if it would even last long.   It's continuing to push me in a forward motion.  Yes Grateful for the advice, the sharing, the kindness,  & encouragement.  So very Grateful for all of you.

INSPIRED

I am truly Inspired by this bird of prey, that she/he has so readily adapted to life in the city, that while her/his once,  field & forest home had been turned into a concrete wasteland (I'll say no more about that for now), that she/he is able to still find food & make the most of a situation that was thrust upon her/him.  This bird's situation really does Inspire me to look at some of my own life situations that are not of my making & how I need to adapt, to make the most of what is.

FUN
We had 6 baby black squirrels loose in the garden (again) & we watched them for about an hour, chase, wrestle & well I'm not sure what it was; washing or kissing.  I'm no longer a fan of the six plus Mom as they chase my chipmunks & the squirrels dig huge holes in my flower pots.  Fun - well for a moment or two, but I'm so over this form of entertainment.

  1. That's a beautiful hawk! I love birds of prey. Squirrels - ugh. The black ones are not too bad, but we have a little red squirrel who is half the size and a real little jerk! Chipmunks always seem more mannerly. -Jenn

    1. We have seen so many hawks of late, what survivors they are. Our red squirrel doesn't seem to bother with my garden or flower pots, just the naughty black squirrels.

  2. A hawk and baby squirrels - that's a lot of wildlife in your life right now! Wishing you a good week.

    1. I always look to nature to give me a boost & I'm so blessed to live with an abundance of it.

  3. Looking forward to the link up!
I have never seen a black squirrel before. We had a squirrel run across our lawn this weekend, ran straight into our patio door, must have dazed itself as it then wobbled around bumping into flower pots before seeking refuge in a flower bed. Coco meanwhile, was indoors watching through the glass, dancing around, barking and yelping and desperate to go out and find it. We had to hold her back because, in a face to face situation, I think that she would come off worse!

    1. Oh that silly squirrel of yours. The baby blacks are falling off the fence & out of the tree, right now they seem to bounce. Our easterly neighbours' cat chases the squirrels to no avail.

  4. Mr. Man is a trusting soul ;) I'll join you in gratitude for the connections I've made blogging. Thank you for being open to these interactions. It has meant a lot to me. We see a couple of different kinds of hawks here in urban Memphis, and I like to think they'll keep rodent populations under control. They are a joy to see in flight. I've never seen a black squirrel. The gray squirrels are cute enough to watch, but I'm also tired of them digging up my patio pots *sigh* My daddy called them "tree rats" for a reason lol

    1. Tree rats is a very good name for the squirrels. I won't see them hurt, but I really want these new 6 to move on, find new territory - there's a large forest area with river very close for them to move on to! That the hawks all look well fed, makes me wonder about the rats & bunnies that are plentiful for them.

  5. I am totally in sympathy re. the squirrels. Never have they been more annoying. I need to get a dog. (Or a hawk.) There are some blacks round here - not a separate species but a mutation of the American grey. Dislike all equally!

    1. I've stopped putting out bird seed that contains sunflower seeds & only Niger seed for the Finches which is in a squirrel proof feeder. I'm hoping without nibbles they'll move on soon. For the chipmunks we hand feed them the peanuts. We get all three types; native black, native reds & the American grey - I doubt a wall could keep them out!

  6. "Rats with tails" is my definition of the black squirrels. I am also upset with the sparrows who keep hatching a brood of babies (sometimes two batches a year) in my awning. Their chirping drives me crazy when I am sitting outside!

    1. Ah the squirrels do seem to invoke a lot emotion (col). We have a pair of crows that have decided to call to the others every morning at 6:30am - SO LOUD.

  7. Four years of blogging. Wow! Where has that time gone? Squirrels are featuring today!

    1. Yes 4 years - I cannot believe it. Thanks for being a long for the ride (col). I'm seeing that I'm not the only one with tree rat problems.

  8. The only black squirrels I've seen have been in Ontario, and I've never seen a group of baby squirrels. In general, we don't have so many that they are a nuisance. The chipmunks cause more damage, but I haven't seen any of them this year at all. The baby squirrels would be fun to watch! Looking forward to the link-up on Friday.

    1. I'm wondering if these 6 were actually from the same parents, small but mighty in the naughtiness. They were so shiny black & small & played like kittens do. My chipmunks are pretty behaved compared to other tales I've heard about them.
