Good Morning.
Currently Doing: Spring laundry. One thing I will miss from the lock down is the hydro being just one rate (the lower rate) all day, every day, rather than just after 7pm week days & all day weekends. I have been able to do a lot of my Spring bedding laundry throughout the week, giving me a daily task. We have until April 30th, which was our original lock-down release date, so I wonder because lock-down has been extended, maybe, fingers crossed, hydro rates will continue at the lower rate until May 31st.
Currently Grateful: for happy mail - a cheerful rainbow card from a friend.
Currently Reading: pulled a not so much a favourite, but as a desperate read; A Casual Vacancy, from my shelf. I did not like the first time I read. Even the online books have a 4-6 waiting period. I have gone through with my hold request, on 3 books, just in case. Online reading is not my favourite method but needs must.
Currently Making: a card for our minister - to thank her for being our umbrella during these stormy times. Inside are a couple of bible quotes pertaining to shelter & protection during difficult times.
Received the April Paper Pumpkin card kit - it's theme is family. I will be using for making cards that go to our seniors in a local senior's residence, where, thankfully, all are still healthy, but certainly missing family & friends.
Currently Watching: Downton Abbey, which should occupy me for a few nights. I am not binge watching, but allocating one episode a night. I finished my DVD set of Cranford (both 1 & 2); Forsyte Saga (both 1 & 2).

It's hard to limit yourself to just one episode of something you are enjoying isn't it? I'm doing the same with my DVD set of Grey's Anatomy season 15 and I only have two episodes left :-( I am sure I will find something on Netflix to take its place!

Our local senior residences number about 10, so that isn't too much of a task - using the kit means it is the same card so a quick project. If I binged watch I'd find I would start to wallow not only in body but mind.

DeleteWe're just at the end of watching Ken Burn's eight-part series on The Roosevelts. Each part is nearly two hours long, so we watch about one hour at a time. I should pull out my DVDs of The West Wing. It would be a perfect time to watch, and might take my mind off the current occupant in the White House! Or maybe it would just make it seem all the worse! Your card is lovely--they used a die cut like the one you used for the sentiment for a technique in the online card class I'm taking. I'm not sure I have what's required.
ReplyDeleteMy DVD collection isn't vast so I'm allocating slowly, just like the cookies (lol). I never watched The West Wing, but I hear you about would it make you feel better or worse.
DeleteBooks are the one thing I have plenty of, but sadly no reading mojo. I'm even struggling to concentrate on the Harry Potter books and I usually whizz through those. How about audiobooks, have you tried them? Our library loans them but there are also plenty available for free on the internet.
ReplyDeleteI finally went to the section of the online books for "what's available" & picked something; Dan Brown's Lost Symbol. Audio books are the same, only so making licenses for online. I think everyone is now suffering loss of focus.
DeleteWe're just starting the "Life on Mars" (UK version) boxset. We haven't seen it for years so it will be like seeing it for the first time. Do your electricity companies control the rates all the time?
ReplyDeleteYes; the big company is called Hydro One & then community electric companies buy from them, then to us. We normally have a three tier pricing & it changes by season. During the winter months prime expensive time is 7am-11am, then 5pm-7pm , cheapest time is 7pm to 7am. In the summer expensive time is mid morning to afternoon because of air conditioning! With everyone home, rates had to be adjusted for everyone because who could afford prime time rates & trying to do online schooling or working from home. I've not seen Life On Mars.
DeleteI have never been as grateful for the books and movies free online as I am now lol We're watching a series called Death in Paradise on BritBox. Just the kind of cozy and light-hearted tv-watching I need these days.

Oh I do like Damian Lewis. I'm glad I'm not alone in my dislike of Casual Vacancy. I put it down, I think it goes when the church is looking for donations for book & bake sale. I did finally get an online book to read.

ReplyDeleteWe have plenty of books & movies here. I'm currently still working through the books on my To-Read-Next shelves, but there are plenty of others to choose from if those run out. We have over 1000 movies/TV shows, so no danger of us running out anytime soon. We're currently watching 2 or 3 movies a week, along with episodes of Dragnet from the late 1960s.
It does sound like you & Robbie are well set with books & movies, which certainly does help pass some time.
DeleteLove Downton Abbey! I could sit and watch them all day. I don't understand the online wait for books . Why is there a wait if they are digital?
ReplyDeleteThe digital book wait is because they only purchase so many licenses for them, usually about 4-5 & with everyone home, the demand is great for the popular books. I am hopeful our libraries are some of the first return to being open.
DeleteLovely cards, both received and crafted! We are almost finished with Lewis here, so hubby and I will move onto Endeavor next. I don't think I can talk him into Downton Abbey. I haven't been reading books at all, but relistening to some audiobook favorites.
ReplyDeleteWe also like Lewis & Endeavour. Mr Man isn't interested in a re-watch of Downton either. I fall asleep if listening to an audiobook, but maybe I'll try one during the daytime (col) see if I can get through one that way. Good suggestion - thank you.
