Me On Monday - April 18th

Good Morning. Spring is arriving slowly in my garden & region & it makes my heart glad.

The  chipmunk living under our front steps has been doing some house cleaning ...

Tulips, my red & whites planted for Canada's 150 birthday - there's hope for another great showing ...

The neighbours smoking out the neighbourhood with their wet wood & leaves fire ...

Daffodills also with a promise of glorious bloom ...

And the Hellabores with blooms about to open fully ...

and the ospreys are back at the lake ...

And I will leave you with my thought for the day and/or the rest of the month ... " I admit I need professional help; a maid, a cook, & a cleaner should do the trick!"

....

  1. I love it when we finally see the early signs of spring, your garden is going to look so pretty in a week or so time once the blooms are fully open.

  2. Oh, have those 150 tulips worked for you? Ours didn’t come back very well and are all gone. Others that i have seen around and about haven’t exactly thrived.

    1. I do a lot of Autumn feeding so maybe that's the help they needed. I don't think tulips are long lived, well at least in my garden, so the 150's carrying on is a bonus. :)

  3. That's the sort of professional help I need as well!

There's lots of promise shooting up in your garden ... it's going to look lovely. xx

    1. It would be like a holiday even staying at home, it the professionals came in for a week or two! I was most excited yesterday to see the buds forming on my Tree Peony.

  4. Given that quote, it's clear we all could use some professional help! Love seeing the signs of spring. Our Hellabores are in full bloom as are the daffodils. Thankfully they survive the early spring snows.

    1. I think of all those professions, I'd like a cleaner the most. I'm not too bothered about being the cook. :)
With yesterday's snow our flowering time has been delayed.

  5. Spring! Daffodils here have mostly come and gone. Neighbors who burn aren't good neighbors imo. I can't enjoy the outside when it's filled with smoke :(

    1. I agree with you about back yard fires. If everyone has a fire going, I cannot believe this is good (or necessary) for the environment. Two of the neighbours to the west of us don't seem to know how to build non smoking fires - it's because they burn the wet green wood of shipping pallets.

  6. How lovely. I know you have had to wait longer, but as most of our daffodils have faded away, I admit I am a little bit envious that you still have yours to look forward to! Human nature eh?!
(Are people allowed to have bonfires any time/place they like?)

    1. We had a snow storm yesterday, so flowering is delayed, yet again. Seems the program of spring just won't load, error 404. Yes people can have back yard fire pits & burn any time & as long as they like. Rules say no smoking fires though, but NO ONE enforces. I am not a fan of back yard fire pits especially with the screams of climate change!

    1. I am hopeful that all that plant feeding I did last Autumn reflects in a bountiful flower showing.

  8. I laughed to see that the chipmunk is spring cleaning, too! How lovely to see all those flower buds waiting to bloom! Your garden will be full of color when the flowers arrive! Ha, ha, yes, the professional help we all need! The sad thing is, I was able to enjoy all that professional help and more when I was growing up!

    1. We did a little more clean up in the garden yesterday morning (Monday) before the snow arrived & I did notice another house cleaning from a chipmunk in the back garden.

  9. Daffodils are out here so we are a bit ahead of you. No tulips yet, though. I am the "professional help" at my house!

    1. After the snow yesterday, everything is covered up again. It's like that error message 404, program not found ...
