Merry Christmas - The Twelve Days

                                                    💖🙏💝🙏💖🙏💝🙏💖

On the first day of Christmas I pray for you joy in abundance and laughter, for laughter cures our ills and joy makes our spirits soar.

On the second day of Christmas, I pray for you a sigh when you need one, for a sigh clears the heart as a cough clears the throat, and with a sigh comes acceptance of what we cannot change.

On the third day of Christmas, I pray for you tears when you need them, for tears clear the eyes to see the stars and cleanse the soul to let healing being.

On the fourth day of Christmas, I pray for you serenity, for fights and wars start in individual breaths and that is where they must end.

On the fifth day of Christmas, I pray for you wisdom, for our priceless gift is the gift of choice - and we should use it well every day, in word and deed.

On the sixth day of Christmas, I pray for you patience, for most troubles pass if we wait them out, and success comes with persistence.

On the seventh day of Christmas, I pray for you courage, for there may be many pitfalls and dangers ahead and problems can only be solved when they are faced.

On the eighth day of Christmas, I pray for you compassion, for we cannot help others until we understand them, and we cannot understand them until we walk in their shoes.

On the ninth day of Christmas, I pray for you a willingness to work, for work turns dreams to reality-whether the dreams are ours or belong to those we can help.

On the tenth day of Christmas, I pray for you unwavering faith, for faith shapes our morals and our destiny and draws us closer to God.

On the eleventh day of Christmas, I pray for you a mind full of hope, for hope determines our attitudes, sets our goals and creates our ideals.

On the twelfth day of Christmas, I pray for you a heart so full of love that every day you must give some away to those whose paths you cross.

Me On A Monday - November 27th

Good Morning Everyone. Brr it is cold.  For us November had a temperature turning point on the 20th. No more of the unusually warmer temperatures.  Snow was flying about on the 24th!

Currently Thinking About: December Daily, a scrapbooking project. I've struggled with myself about whether I wanted to do, what to do with all my Christmas related papers, stickers & die cuts. So in the end I've decided, I'm all in, but not in the traditional or standard way.  We don't have a lot if any activities planned for the holidays, so I've worked on a list of photo prompts for myself, that will work for me. Some of my themes for the day are similar but only to accommodate my layout plans.  I'm planning on a page a day. What I've yet to 100% decide is the size format.  In my sorting through my stash I found I have a 6X8" green binder that could be re-purposed into a DD, or I could go with my standard scrapping size of 12X12" pages.  No decision made as yet, although I am leaning into 12X12.

There are a few days of December that may get a switch up with plans that just might happen.  Pre-Covid, we use to celebrate Express Christmas on the 16th with friends. For those of you that were fans of the TV show Modern Family, you'll know about Express Christmas.  For those of you that don't, here's a link. Express Christmas

Anyway, I am happy with my list & my decision to embracing December Daily scrapbooking.  This is my list in case anyone wants to play along, or use as a jumping off point for their holiday season recording.

December Daily - I Have A Start

I thought it was time I showed you some of my start to December Daily.  In the end I decided I wanted to do & be part of "that" community.  It really is a fun way to document the season & even a better way to reflect back on previous years in what worked & didn't work so well.

My DD is a combination of pocket pages; these particular pages I got from Becky Higgins & were suppose to be full 12X12" pages but when they arrived, there was a note saying sorry, not quite up to 12X12" size.  I kept them with the idea of one day using.  2017 has been about simplifying things & using what I have.

This year rather than "My Reasons Why" or a "Christmas Manifesto", I have gone with a welcome to Christmas 2017, stating some of my/our intentions for the season.  I have had this big plaid bow sheet for at least 10 years & decided, yes it's time to use it.  Took a few tries to get the page to fit within the bow.  Simple & I like.

My full page about our favourite Christmas movies isn't quite complete because I just couldn't work on it with any embellishment pieces out - one or both cats decided they should help.  I'll say no more about feline scrapping help.  There are many movie page ideas on the December Daily FaceBook pages, this year everyone seemed to be making round look like a movie real  ... remember I said simple was my 2017 theme.  I thought the popcorn bag was a great an ok way to showcase the movies.  I have a couple of stickers that are drink with straw & candy box that I will place in the left hand corner with a die cut scalloped circle behind them.  This page looks better in my head than it is shaping up to be.

I created a 2 page spread about Elf Surveillance warnings, both of which I got as freebies online & I am using two printed photos from last year's DD that I did not use, one of the Elves & one of Teddies.  Simple although I still need to write in my little darlings mis-deeds in, which I am sure I will have choice between now & Christmas Day.

My last example is one of the actual pocket pages; the opposite incomplete pocket page has the journaling about making & mailing cards, along with the cost of stamps & my hesitation in mailing from the community mailboxes.

Please check in with these lovely ladies, they are masters at  creating simple, artful & complete December Daily pages.  They are my she-roes in the scrapping world, especially for December Daily.

Best Possible News Of The Day

Possibly the best news I read this morning was on my F/B feed page from Downton Abbey!  To refuse a mince pie/tart is bad luck & that if you have a mince pie/tart every day of the Twelve Days of Christmas you will have good luck in the new year - you just have to remember to make your wish known on the first bite of each pie/tart.  I can do this, I need to do this!

So today will be the mince pie/tart baking adventure.  Only 2 questions; (1) brandy or not, (2) full top or star top?

Winter Photo Scavenger Hunt

The Lovely Eileen & her friend Joy have created a list for a Winter Time Photo Scavenger Hunt. Thanks ladies.   You can link in at Eileen's blog:  http://in-my-playroom.blogspot.co.uk/

I am starting off with a Snowman, which our westerly neighbours son, Duke, made at the end of our shared lawn. It's "funny" how he built this because our little Christmas gift to him & his family is a snowman building kit along with some snow moulds.

Here's the list from Eileen's blog :

1.   A robin redbreast
2.   Tinsel
3.   Outside lighting
4.   A star
5.   A snowman
6.   A puddle
7.   Berries and/or nuts
8.   A wreath
9.   A tree that has lost all its leaves
10.  A windy day
11.  Your favourite pudding
12.  A fancy button
13.  Street art
14.  Afternoon tea
15.  Candle light
16.  A chimney
17.  A ladder
18.  An arrow
19.  A fountain
20.  Cutlery
21.  Your own handwriting (this one is compulsory and cannot be substituted)

If you find any of the above hard to get you may substitute one or both of the subjects below, except No. 21 which is compulsory.
Alt A  A supermarket trolley or basket, filled with shopping
Alt B  An animal statue
Alt C  Metal railings
